Goals for students in this class:
• Master the 37 phonetic symbols and be able to use them in pinyin combinations easily. 掌握37個注音符號，並能夠容易的使用在拼音組合上
• Recognize the proper tones and use them in conversation, reading, and writing. 認識正確的發音和語調，並應用它們在談話，閱讀，和寫作上
• Read, write, speak, and understand approximately 100 basic Chinese characters, and use them in phrases and sentences. 聽，說，讀，寫，約100個基本中國文字，並能應用在造詞和造句上
• Tell a simple story in Chinese based on a series of pictures. 根據一系列圖片使用中文說一個簡單的故事
• Read a simple story book. 閱讀簡單的中文故事書
• Carry a simple conversation in Chinese. 隨身攜帶簡單的中文對話
• Sing Chinese songs, and recite Chinese poems. 唱中文歌曲，朗誦中國詩歌
